Will Cooper Kupp return this season? Injury update on Los Angeles Rams' premier receiver

Cooper Kupp suffered an unfortunate ankle injury in the Los Angeles Rams' Week 10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The receiver was able to avoid a severe fracture but underwent surgery on his ankle.

While initial reports suggested that Kupp was expected to miss six to eight weeks of NFL action, it is believed that the 29-year-old may not play for the Rams at all this season. Rams head coach Sean McVay recently stated that Kupp may miss the remainder of the campaign due to his injury and rehab.

Kupp was instrumental in guiding the Rams to the Super Bowl last season. He caught 145 passes for 1,947 yards and added 16 touchdowns to propel LA to glory.

Sean McVay's side are currently 4-9 heading into Week 15 and Los Angeles are almost out of the playoff race. Even if the Rams win their remaining four games, they may still not be eligible to make it to the postseason.

The Rams will face the Green Bay Packers in Week 15 before hosting the Denver Broncos in Week 16. They will play their penultimate game of the regular season against the Los Angeles Chargers and finish their campaign by traveling to face the Seattle Seahawks.

Prior to his injury, Cooper Kupp was the premier receiver for the Los Angeles Rams. He recorded 812 receiving yards and six touchdowns through the air. The Pro Bowler also put up 52 yards and one touchdown on the ground in his nine games.

In Kupp's absence, Ben Skowronek is expected to power the offense for the Rams in their final four games. He linked up well with newly-acquired quarterback Baker Mayfield in his last game to help the Rams get a win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 14.

Though the remainder of the season might not mean much to the Rams, it will play a key role in determining the way forward regarding Baker Mayfield. His fit in Sean McVay's system will determine whether the Rams will be in the market for Matthew Stafford's likely replacement.
