Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles missed an opportunity to put some pressure on the Detroit Lions as the No. 1 seed and fell to a 36-33 loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday.
The major talking point from that game, however, was not the fact that the Eagles did not inch any closer to the No. 1 seed in the conference. Quarterback Hurts exited the game in the first quarter after a rough fall and was evaluated for a concussion soon after.
While Hurts signalled a thumbs up from the sideline indicating he was okay, the Eagles ruled him out for the rest of the game with Kenny Pickett taking over. Hurts was absent from practice this week, racking up DNPs on Wednesday and Thursday.
Per NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport on Thursday, it's looking increasingly unlikely that Hurts will suit up on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

Will Jalen Hurts play this week vs Dallas Cowboys?
A concussion is a nasty injury to make a comeback from inside seven days and the league has shown that it takes its concussion protocol very seriously. Friday's practice will be pivotal in determining whether Jalen Hurts is able to take the field against Dallas on Sunday.
However, as things stand, the Eagles appear to be prepping for a week without their franchise quarterback. They signed Ian Book to the active squad after he visited the team on Christmas Day.
While there have been calls for Tanner McKee to take Hurts' place under center, it appears the Eagles will stick with Kenny Pickett, provided he has recovered from an injury to his ribs.
Pickett was pictured with additional padding on during practice this week and indicated that he would be ready to take the field against the Cowboys.
Philadelphia Eagles injury report for Week 17
At this point, we can assume Jalen Hurts won't suit up but we will likely see defensive end Bryce Huff make a comeback this week. RB Will Shipley was also a DNP on both days so he is a major doubt but A.J. Brown, who appeared on the Eagles' injury report with a knee injury, is likely to take the field.
There's some news on the Cowboys' side as well as they shut down star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb for the rest of the season owing to a shoulder injury.
