The Dallas Cowboys ended a two-game losing streak in Week 4 with a 20–15 victory over the New York Giants on Sep. 26. However, the team was left with several injury concerns, particularly in defense, as standout pass rusher Micah Parsons injured his ankle and defensive lineman DeMarcus Lawrence hurt his foot.
Cowboys fans have hoped all week that Parsons can recover from his injury in time to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5, especially since Lawrence has been placed on the injured reserve list and will miss at least four games. Unfortunately, Parsons will not play for the Cowboys in their game against the Steelers in Week 5.
Parsons' absence was officially confirmed by Friday's injury report; he has been officially ruled out due to an ankle injury.

Parsons will miss his first game ever because of an injury since joining the league in 2021, which is a big blow for Dallas. He did miss one game during his rookie season, but it was because of Covid-19.
Parsons has made an outstanding 14 total tackles in his four games with Dallas this season, along with one sack and a team-high six quarterback hits. His injury has come at a bad time for the Cowboys, who are now 2-2 on the season and set to take on a formidable 3-1 Steelers side in Week 5.
In addition to Parsons, wide receiver Brandin Cooks is also unavailable for the Cowboys in Week 5 due to a knee injury. Cornerbacks Trevon Diggs (ankle) and Calen Carson (shoulder) are questionable for the team as well.
When will Micah Parsons return for the Cowboys?
The Dallas Cowboys have kept Micah Parsons off of injured reserve, suggesting that they still have hopes that he will return within the next four games.
Micah Parsons is currently considered week-to-week, so his official return date is still unknown. However, he conceded on Monday that he might miss up to two weeks of action (per Bleacher Report), for games against the Steelers and Detroit Lions. That way, he could be available again for the Cowboys after their Week 7 bye.
The Cowboys are pretty weak in defense in Week 5 since Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence are sidelined, but they will be hoping that rookie defensive end Marshawn Kneeland can step up and be their next man up against the Steelers.
