Willie Gay

Willie Gay Jr is an American football linebacker for the New Orleans Saints in the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs acquired Gay with the 63rd overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, after trading Dee Ford to the 49ers in 2019. Gay played in 16 games, starting in 8, and finished his first year with 39 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble. Gay was put on the injured reserve in September 2021. Gay was suspended for four games the following season, after violating the NFL's rules regarding personal behavior. He had 58 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and an interception at the end of the 2023 campaign. Gay signed a one-year contract in 2024 with the New Orleans Saints.

Gay started playing collegiate football at Mississippi State University in 2017. As a freshman, he participated in all 13 games and ended with 23 tackles and a sack. In 2018, Gay made six starts and had 48 tackles, including five sacks. Due to an infraction of the rules, Gay was forced to miss eight games during his junior season. In order to join the 2020 NFL draft, he made the decision to forego his senior year. Gay attended Starkville High School, where he was listed as the third-best outside linebacker in the country by Scout.com and 247Sports.com. As a result, he was one of 15 semifinalists for the Butkus Award for high school players.
