On the Carolina Panthers' injury report this week, rookie wide receiver Xavier Legette's groin injury—which caused him to leave the Week 15 game against the Dallas Cowboys early—was redefined as a hip ailment.
Legette was considered "week-to-week" and not expected to play against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, according to what head coach Dave Canales said on Monday.
"He's week-to-week right now," Canales said. "We're still doing all the work-up on that, we'll give you a better picture on that in the next couple of days.”
Given Canales' remark earlier in the week, it is not surprising the receiver did not participate in practice on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Panthers also didn't have Legette back in practice on Friday, and the team has ruled him out for the Week 16 game on their final injury report.
Legette recently disclosed he will require surgery to treat a wrist ailment he sustained while in college, and now he has to deal with a fresh groin/hip injury. It wouldn't come as a major surprise if the Panthers decided not to bring back Legette for the rest of the season with three games remaining and no chance of making the playoffs.
The receiver was already seeing a considerable amount of playing time in his rookie season in the league, so this is a disappointing development for him. He has 41 catches for 439 yards and four touchdowns this season. He is leading all of the team's wide receivers in terms of snaps.
Wide receiver Deven Thompkins may see more action on Sunday since Legette is unavailable in Week 16. Jalen Coker and Adam Thielen will probably be given increased responsibilities in Carolina's offense.
Xavier Legette injury update: What happened to the Panthers WR?
Legette recorded two catches from three targets for seven yards before he exited the Week 15 game against the Dallas Cowboys due to a groin injury. He also says he had re-aggravated a wrist injury he had first sustained in 2021 and has continuously experienced difficulty when playing.
