Zach Charbonnet or David Montgomery or Brian Robinson Jr.: Who should I start in Week 3 Fantasy Football?

Zach Charbonnet, David Montgomery, and Brian Robinson Jr. - each of these running backs is the brutal and imposing "thunder" part of a dominating duo where their partner on the backfield is the light yet speedy "lightning". Such pairing have been popular since the New York Giants' Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs, and they figure to carry that dynamic throughout this season.

But with all that said, who is the best fantasy pick among the three?

RB33 Charbonnet made the most of his starting opportunity in his last game, rushing 14 times for 38 yards and a touchdown in an overtime win at the New England Patriots.

And against the Miami Dolphins, who represent the Seattle Seahawks' second straight interconference opponent, he should get more opportunities to carry the ball, with each team's receiving corps likely to be neutralized by the other's secondary - which boasts Jalen Ramsey, Riq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon across both sides.

Montgomery, who is at RB31, should have a very easy time against the Arizona Cardinals, who lack an impact player at defense besides Budda Baker. Zaven Collins, while developing quite nicely as a pass and run stopper, is still not well-established enough to be entrenched as someone the team can rely on.

The Lions, in general should have no problem deploying him and Jahmyr Gibbs very often on the field, taking their turns putting up yard after yard. They should also free up Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta for receiving opportunities against a weak secondary.

The Washington Commanders' ground has been somewhat confusing in the first two games. In the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, quarterback Jayden Daniels was the leading rusher with 88 yards and two touchdowns from 16 carries, with none of the running backs coming close to matching his output.

But then in the second game, RB24 Robinson exploded for 133 yards on 17 carries, as Austin Seibert kicked field goal after field goal to surprisingly give the team the divisional lead. Next up for him are the Cincinnati Bengals, who have at least two players who can stop him: defensive ends Trey Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard, as well as veteran linebacker Logan Wilson.

However, there is one thing going for him: the Bengals are 0-2 - a shocking start for a purported contender. If he can maintain his form on Sunday, then chances are he becomes worth making a sleeper.

Sportskeeda's Start/Sit Optimizer has put up a surprise winner in this fantasy comparison: Brian Robinson Jr. But given his explosion in Week 2, that may hardly count as a surprise.

More astute players are likelier to lean on David Montgomery, given the opposition he is facing; but the Commander is looking more and more like an unsung winner, especially with the upgraded offensive line that boasts Andrew Wylie, Nick Allegretti, and Tyler Biadasz.

As for Zach Charbonnet, he too does hold some promise; but he sits too far behind those two to be a viable starting option.
