Macklin Celebrini is a Canadian college ice hockey center who is currently affiliated with the Boston University Terriers of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Notably, Celebrini was born on June 13, 2006 and is currently 18 years old. He is eligible for the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and is widely projected to be selected first overall by the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Celebrni began his hockey career with the North Shore Winter Club before playing for the San Jose Sharks U14 AAA team. However, he shot to fame after signing with the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League (USHL). He made his debut for the team in the 2022-23 season and scored 46 goals and posted 40 assists across 50 games. For his performances, he was honored with accolades such as USHL Rookie of the Year, Forward of the Year, and Player of the Year awards.

He also represents Canada internationally and has represented them at the 2022 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, 2023 IIHF World U18 Championships, 2024 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships and was invited to join the senior national team for the 2024 IIHF World Championship.

Macklin Celebrini's College Career

Macklin Celebrini is heading into his sophomore season going into 2024-25. Notably, Celebrini had an outstanding debut season with the Terriers' men's ice hockey team in 2023-24. In his freshman season, Celebrini played 38 games, leading the nation with 1.69 points per game. He scored 32 goals and recorded 32 assists, amassing 64 points. Moreover, after the end of the season, Celebrni was honored with numerous accolades such as Hobey Baker Award, National Rookie of the Year award, First Team All-American, Hockey East Player, Rookie of the Year, and Hockey East First Team All-Star selections. Remarkably, he was just 17 at the time and became the youngest player to win the Hobey Baker Award. He also became the fourth freshman after Paul Kariya, Jack Eichel and Adam Fantilli.

Macklin is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences at Boston University and comes from a family deeply involved in sports, with his father Rick being the vice president of player health and performance for the NBA's Golden State Warriors. His brother Aiden is also part of Boston University's freshman class.

Macklin Celebrini attended Shattuck-St. Mary's, a prestigious prep school known for its strong hockey program. He debuted with them during the 2020-21 season and played with the U14 AAA Team. His inaugural season with them saw him score 49 goals and record 45 assists for a total of 94 points. The following season, he started with the U18 Prep team and showcased his exceptional talent by scoring 50 goals and recording 57 assist for a total of 117 points. After his successful stint at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, Celebrini made the leap to the United States Hockey League (USHL), where he continued to excel with the Chicago Steel.
