Rishank Devadiga

Rishank Devadiga is an Indian professional kabaddi player who plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. He will be playing for UP Yoddha in the Pro Kabaddi Season 7. Born on 3 Feb, 1994 in Santacruz, Mumbai, he is one of the top raiders in the league and has earned enormous praise for delivering exceptional performances one after the other.

Background

Devadiga is a commerce graduate from Chetana Hazarimal Somani college of Commerce and Economics who also domestically represents BPCL. He currently lives in the Gangolli village of Karnataka. He lost his father at a young age and lives with his mother and sister.

Rishank began playing kabaddi when he was about seven years old. While so, he realized he was stronger than his peers and that’s how he was prompted to take up kabaddi as a sport. He played for the Mumbai district kabaddi team and got his first break with Dena Bank where he was awarded the best player of the tournament. He has also played for Bharat Petroleum and the Maharashtra team and later got selected for the Pro Kabaddi League.

Debut

Devadiga started his PKL career with his home team U Mumba and was retained for the following three seasons. In Season 5, he was signed by UP Yoddha for a huge sum of Rs. 45.50 lakhs and will play for them in the upcoming Season 6 for which he was signed for a mammoth price of Rs. 1.11 Crores.

Rise to glory

In 2015, his stellar performance was enough to attract attention from the Indian National Kabaddi team. Through his loyalty, diligence and hard work, he has risen up and made a mark on the Kabaddi circuit. Known for his do or die raids, he is an extremely fit athlete who loves to train hard and maintain his health religiously. His physique helps him to out-muscle opponent easily while raiding.

Prominent Achievements

Devadiga created history when he led Maharashtra to the Senior National Kabaddi Championship 2017-18. He was also a part of the Indian team that won the 2018 Kabaddi Masters title in Dubai. He has been one of the most deadly raiders in the league so far and currently occupies the seventh spot in the all-time raid points list with a total of 449 points in 80 matches. His personal best was for the U Mumba side in Season 3 where he finished with a tally of 115 points in 16 matches, making him second highest of the season.
