Sajid Mahmood Biography
Sajid Mahmood is a former English cricketer who played as a right arm fast medium bowler in all formats of the game. He was born on the 21st of December, 1981 in Bolton, Greater Manchester, England.
Background
Mahmood started playing club cricket in the Bolton Leagues, and was selected and signed by Lancashire in 2002 and awarded a sports scholarship. He made his debut for Lancashire in 2002.
He started achieving prominence and fame the very next year by winning the NBC Denis Compton Award and was selected to play for the England A Cricket team against India and Malaysia.
Debut
Sajid Mahmood made his One Day International debut for England against New Zealand at Bristol in the July of 2004. His performance was poor as he conceded 56 runs in seven overs without taking a single wicket.
His performance improved in England’s tour of India a year and a half later, where he took several wickets in the three ODI games that he played.
Rise to Glory
As Mahmood delivered good performances, he was selected in the squad of the ICC World Cup 2007.
In a match Against Sri Lanka in the Super Eight stage he produced his best figures in an ODI match, taking the wickets of Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara in his spell of 4–50.
He received his first Man of The Match award against Pakistan in Birmingham as he led England to a massive 85 run victory.
Low Points
Mahmood was an expensive bowler, and despite his ability to get important wickets, his economy rate kept him out of the English squad for several occasions.
Despite doing well in a few matches, his World Cup campaign was all in all unimpressive, something that caused him to be dropped from the side yet again.
Club Career
Mahmood joined Western Australia as an overseas player for the domestic T20 competition during the 2010–11 season. He played in five matches for them, taking five wickets at an average of 30.2.

Retirement
He was supposed to play his last international match as a One Day International against South Africa in Kingsmead on December 4, 2009. However this match was abandoned. So, in effect his last match was played in the November during the same series.
