Shabbir Ahmed Biography
Shabbir Ahmed Khan is a Pakistani right arm fast medium bowler who was on 21 April, 1976 in Khanewal, Punjab, Pakistan.
Debut
Shabbir made his international debut in the third ODI against West Indies on September 19, 1999 in Toronto where he took three wickets by giving 52 runs.
He made his Test debut against Bangladesh in Karachi during 2003-04 series in which he took three wickets in the first innings and a fifer in the second innings.
He also became one of the seven players to take a five wicket haul on test debut. After him, three more players achieved this feat.
Rise to glory:
He played 10 Tests and 32 ODIs in his entire international career before he was banned from competitive cricket but was really impressive during that time.
His bowling style was compared to Glenn McGrath as he had great control on ball with the ability to swing it both ways.
Low points
In 2005, in a test match against England, Shabbir was banned for an year due to illegal bowling action by ICC.
The ban was lifted in December 2006 but Shabbir could never come back to the national side as his performance was not upto mark and he got restricted to domestic cricket only.
Records
Shabbir Ahmed became the joint fastest Pakistani to take 50 wickets in 10 matches with Waqar Younis. Later that record was broken by Yasir Shah where he achieved this feat in just 9 matches.
