Yudhvir Singh

Yudhvir Singh Charak, popularly known as Yudhvir Singh is an Indian cricketer born on September 13, 1997, in the city of Jammu. He is a right-handed bowler known for picking up wickets with his right-arm medium pace and also has the ability to add some runs lower down the order.

Singh plays for his home team Jammu and Kashmir in the domestic circuit. He represents the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Though Yudhvir Singh has played a decent amount of matches on the domestic front, he has yet to unlock his true potential and can be very useful with the ball.

Although Yudhvir Singh was born in Jammu, he started his domestic career for Hyderabad. He made his T20 debut versus Chandigarh on November 12, 2019, at Chandigarh. Singh did not get an opportunity to bat in that match, but he picked up two wickets for his team. Singh dismissed opposition captain Manan Vohra to open his wicket tally in domestic T20 cricket, while he also picked up the wicket of Gaurav Gambhir.

Unfortunately, Yudhvir went wicketless in his next two T20 games against Maharashtra and Arunachal. The 27-year-old could only take a single wicket for Hyderabad in the 2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Talking about his performances with the willow in T20s as of September 2024, Yudhvir Singh has scored 125 runs at a strike rate of 186.56. In his brief career, the rising star has smashed six fours and thirteen sixes.

Singh made his first-class debut on December 17, 2019, against the Punjab cricket team. He scored five runs and one wicket for Hyderabad in that fixture. So far, he has played only four first-class matches, picking up three wickets and aggregating 79 runs. He made his List-A debut for his home side Jammu and Kashmir against Madhya Pradesh (MP) in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022-23 season on November 12, 2022.

Yudhvir Singh earned his maiden IPL contract from the two-time defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the IPL Auction 2021. The Mumbai-based franchise signed him at his base price of INR 20 lakh. He could not get to feature for MI and was later signed by the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2023 auction. He made his IPL debut against Punjab Kings and was dismissed for a golden duck in the first innings by Sam Curran. However, he was impressive with the ball returning with figures of 3-0-19-2, where he dismissed both the openers for single digits. He finished that season by playing three matches and taking three wickets.

In IPL 2024, the Jammu-born played only a couple of matches and managed to take only a solitary wicket.

Hailing from Jammu, 27-year-old Yudhvir Singh made a huge decision to represent Hyderabad over his home state at the domestic level. Yudhvir had been to the United Arab Emirates with the Mumbai Indians team as a net bowler for IPL 2020. It seems the Mumbai team management was impressed with his hard work, which is why they offered him his first IPL contract.
