All about the cast of Kraven the Hunter

Kraven the Hunter is an upcoming American superhero film which is directed by J. C. Chandor. The film is based on a Marvel character with the same name. The movie is set to be produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel Entertainment, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. Many might think of it as an MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) film, however, in actuality, the film starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson is all set to be the sixth film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU).

After much desire to make Kraven the character do a cameo in various previous SSU films, the makers finally decided to give the character its own movie. American filmmaker J. C. Chandor was finalized as the film’s director in May 2021 and then Johnson was finalized for portraying the titular role of Kraven in the upcoming superhero movie.

Who plays Kraven the Hunter?

English actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson is all set to play Kraven the Hunter in the upcoming superhero film. For the unversed, Kraven is a Marvel character who is known for being a hunter-warrior with animalistic powers. During one of the interviews, Johnson regarded his role as a conservationist or animal lover.

The English actor also added that Kraven is a positive man who is driven into a corner by people like his father, proving the film's tagline, "Villains aren't born, they're made." Taylor-Johnson is an English actor who is best known for his superhero roles. He first came to the limelight for portraying the role of David "Dave" Lizewski/Kick-Ass in the 2010 released film Kick-Ass.

It's not the first time Johnson worked with Marvel Entertainment as before this, he played the role of Pietro Maximoff aka Quick-Silver in the 2015 MCU film, Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Is Russell Crowe also starring in Kraven the Hunter?

Yes, Russell Crowe is set to play Nikolai Kravinoff, Kraven Hunter’s estranged father because of which Kraven turns into a villain. Kravinoff was a Russian mafia lord and hunter, as well as Sergei Kravinoff and Dmitri Smerdyakov's father.

Although Crowe has not opened up about playing Nikolai Kravinoff in the upcoming film Kraven the Hunter, as per the comics, Crowe’s character is not exactly positive in the film. Kravinoff, Grand Duke of Russia, was born in St. Petersburg and was also a member of Tsar Nicholas II's court. He does not share a great bond with his son Sergei Kravinoff and immensely tormented Kraven throughout his childhood.
