What is Wednesday about?

The Netflix series Wednesday is a reboot or a spin-off of the classic family 'The Addams Family' created by cartoonist Charles Addams. However, unlike the other films and series that focus on the whole family in general, the series created by Netflix mainly focuses on Wednesday Addams and her spooky adventures in her school. Wednesday is the daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams, sister to Pugsley Addams, and niece of Uncle Fester Addams.

Wednesday Addams is a complete introvert and a strong psychic just like her mother Morticia. She can see visions of the future or past occurrences after touching something. Not just Wednesday, her whole family has been considered human since their creation..

The series focuses on the 16-year-old Wednesday who is very much vocal about her brutal feelings that leave many hurt in the process, including her mother. Wednesday loves and cares for her brother, Pugsley but expresses it in odd ways, which was very much evident in the series. In the Netflix comedy-drama series, Wednesday is put in a fixed spot where she has to rethink her emotionless personality and how she expresses it to others who care about her.

Wednesday's plot and cast

The plot of Wednesday revolves around 16-year-old Wednesday Addams who was recently expelled from her 'normal' school for almost killing the water polo team by dumping live piranhas into the school's pool as a lesson for bullying her younger brother Pugsley Addams. As a consequence, Wednesday was forcefully sent to her parent's high school alma mater, Nevermore Academy by her parents Morticia and Gomez Addams with the hope that she would adjust to the environment.

Nevermore Academy is shown to be a school for outcasts, freaks, and supernatural beings in the town of Jericho, Vermont. In the start, Wednesday is very much against the idea of going to Nevermore Academy, and her cold, emotionless personality makes it way more difficult for her to connect with her schoolmates and her principal too. From the start, she aims to run away from the school but a haunted mystery of Nevermore Academy intrigues Wednesday which she aims to solve.

While at that, she slowly discovers that she has inherited her mother's psychic ability that she puts to use to solve the local murder mystery.

Wednesday Season 2 plot

With Wednesday solving the local murder mystery, Enid Sinclair finally turning into a werewolf, Tyler turning out to be the freaky villain Hyde, Principal Weems being killed and Wednesday saving Nevermore Academy from the evil Joseph Crackstone, season 1 was a roller coaster filled with twist and turns.

It's very much anticipated that season 2 of the Netflix series will have much more in store for us and Wednesday gets to crack a new mystery while she practices her psychic powers. It will be a delight to see who will take the place of principal Weems and be the new principal of Nevermore High and what more can Enid Sinclair do after finally acquiring her true powers.

With the way season 1 ended, Hunter Doohan is likely to find his way back to Nevermore Academy in order to wreak havoc and Wednesday's life. Wednesday's undeniable chemistry with Xavier Thorpe is also yet to be explored in season 2. New freaks and villains may also make entries which would be a delight to watch.
