Why is Jonathan Majors arrested?
Jonathan Majors, an actor known for his role as the villain Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was arrested on March 25, 2023, on charges of domestic assault, strangulation, and harassment. The arrest was made after his 30-year-old girlfriend, Grace Jabbari called 911 and reported the assault which resulted in injuries behind her ear and a bruised and fractured finger.
However, Majors' defense lawyer has stated that the actor is innocent and that the accuser has since recanted the assault allegations. The actor pleaded not guilty and was released. During the trial, Grace Jabbari revealed that the altercation between the two began after she saw a suggestive text on Majors’ phone that read: “Oh how I wish to be kissing you.”
When she tried to snatch the phone, Majors, yanked her finger away from the phone, grabbed her arm and right hand, twisted her forearm, and struck her head to get the phone away from her. As per records, the actor was also accused of forcefully throwing Jabbari back into the car when she tried to exit. However, the defense argued that he placed her back in the car to stop her from running into traffic.
After the trial ended, the jury found Majors guilty of assault in the third degree and harassment. However, the actor was found not guilty of intentional assault in the third degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree. Majors’ sentencing will take place on 6 February, 2024. Reports claim that he would be imprisoned for at least a year based on the charges.
After the verdict was out, Major's attorney, Priya Chaudhry, cleared that Majors “looks forward to fully clearing his name." Which implies that he would possibly appeal in this case. She also added, “Mr. Majors is grateful to God, his family, his friends, and his fans for their love and support during these harrowing eight months.”
