Introduced in 1986, the McDonald's Halloween Boo Buckets were initially called the Halloween Pumpkin Happy Meal. They became a staple during the Halloween weeks until the fast-food giant stopped production in 2016. However, with Halloween around the corner, McDonald's has decided to bring back their iconic and fan-favorite Halloween Boo Buckets as a variant of the Happy Meal.

The Halloween special pails (known colloquially as Boo Buckets) will come in three different variations and will only be available over a two-week period with them replacing toys over this limited period.

Three distinct colors are available at McDonald's: the green witch, the orange pumpkin, and the white ghost, also known as McBoo, McPunk'n, and McGoblin. One significant change from previous years is the fact that the buckets don't have a lid with an attached handle. Instead, the handle is attached to the base, and a two-dimensional silhouette of a lid is clipped onto the handle.

What is in the McDonald's Halloween Happy Meal?

The Halloween Happy Meal from McDonald's includes a cheeseburger, hamburger, or chicken nuggets. Following your selection, the meal will be delivered in one of the special Halloween pails. In addition to the main course, the meal will include fries, a side dish of your choice, and a small drink.

However, the main difference between a regular Happy Meal and the Halloween Happy Meal is that this time around there will be no toys, as the Boo Buckets have replaced the toys throughout this two-week special.

How long will McDonald's have Halloween buckets?

The nostalgic Boo Buckets will be available as part of their Halloween special from October 18th to the 31st, but only while supplies last. To meet customer demand, each McDonald's location will only have one of the three pail designs available each week.

How much are Halloween Boo Buckets?

While the prices are likely to vary at different McDonald's outlets, Happy Meals usually cost between $5 and $7, which should remain the same as the buckets only replace the toy.
