Season five of Yellowstone is divided into two parts, part one premiered on November 13, 2022 and part two will debut in 2023.

On Sunday, November 13, Yellowstone made its return to the Paramount Network for Season 5 with the first two episodes, "One Hundred Years is Nothing" and "The Sting of Wisdom," airing back-to-back. Weekly airings of subsequent episodes are scheduled. There will be 14 episodes in Season 5, which will be split into two parts. It's the biggest season so far, and Part 2 air dates are rumored, but it's not yet known how long that mid-season break will go.

With 12.1 million viewers across all of its airings on Sunday, November 13, Yellowstone had its largest audience ever for an overnight broadcast. The Paramount Network premiere drew an impressive 8.8 million viewers, and the gap was made up by encore presentations later that night on CMT, Pop, and TV Land.

In Season 5, the Kevin Costner-starring neo-western is still a huge hit. In 2022, that is a remarkable number for a cable series. People tune in to watch it live because it is difficult to find on streaming services.

What is the plot of season five of Yellowstone?

The Montana premiere picks up some time after Season 4 ended. John Dutton's bid for governor of Montana is shown. The episode opens with John awaiting the election results and receiving a phone call from the opposing candidate, conceding the race to his fellow Montanans. His son Jamie introduces his father as a fifth-generation rancher and founding member of the state. With sad and meaningful looks between Jamie and his sister Beth, the premiere sets up long-term family drama for Season 5.

They note that it will kill the hotel and airport plans, saying that it is good for the land but bad for them. Market Equities' Caroline and Ellis react to John's appointment, with Caroline losing her temper and Ellis noting that Jamie doesn't seem to be relishing his father's victory. Later that night, Beth aggressively makes out with the ranch hands in front of Rip.

Back in the present day, Beth wakes up in the house she shares with Rip. Rip asks when the Yellowstone ranch will get its owner back, and Beth tells him it'll be four, maybe eight years. The series is setting the stage for the struggle John will face between working in the ruthless world of politics and working his own ranch.

Lynelle tells John that he has no friends on staff and that everyone will be pushing their own agendas and that John will have to bring his own people. She reminds him that she wanted his son Jamie to do it because she could control him. John tells her that he's easy to bribe, reminding her (and viewers) of their sexual encounters. They are stopped by Canadian police, who rush the horses across the river, remarking that they'd rather go to jail in Canada than America.

Livestock agent Kayce uses the threat of the American judicial system to get the Canadian team to agree that the thieves and the horses they stole should remain in America. Jamie says his first act will be to cancel funding for the Paradise Valley airport project. He also promises to increase property and sales taxes for non-residents. Beth says their goal is to get the city's population back up to 100.

The Dutton family is united and together, but in mourning over Yellowstone's latest tragedy. John learns about the death of his grandson and namesake as he watches his son hold the injured body of his wife. For the first time in a long time, the entire family, including squabbling siblings Beth and Jamie, is united.

Who is on the cast of Yellowstone season five?

In Season 5, the ranch is home to both old and new faces. Josh Lucas makes his first appearance as a young John Dutton since Season 3. Young Beth and Rip are played by Kyle Red Silverstein and Kylie Rogers. While Mo Brings Plenty and Wendy Moniz were promoted to series regulars as Thomas Rainwater's (Gil Birmingham) right-hand man Mo and former governor Lynelle Perry, Jacki Weaver returned as the Duttons' newest business adversary, Market Equities CEO Caroline Warner.

Four new characters will also be arriving in Yellowstone. Rowdy is a young cowboy portrayed by Kai Caster. Abby is the name of the musician played by Lainey Wilson. Clara Brewer, who is one of the Duttons' new assistants, is portrayed by Lilli Kai. Additionally, Dawn Olivieri from 1883 joins the cast as Sarah Atwood, a newcomer to Montana who is referred to as a "corporate shark" in the official character description.

A young, self-assured girl named Halie who is drawn to Carter is played by Orli Gottesman in a guest role in the cast. According to the character description for Halie, "In Season 5, Halie becomes that person who gives Carter the chance to come out of his shell and to teach him not only about himself, but he finds himself always wanting to be around Halie." Now that Halie has arrived, he has a friend who can support him and fit that mold.

Forrie J. Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Ryan Bingham, and Jen Landon as Teeter—who has been elevated to series regular—as well as the entire bunkhouse are all back. In addition, Kathryn Kelly, who portrays Emily, Jimmy's fiancée, has been elevated to series regular status and will rejoin Jefferson White as Jimmy.

What is the recap of season four of Yellowstone?

The bloody events of Yellowstone's Season 4 finale were where Season 5 of the show picked up. We all know that Beth (Kelly Reilly) is the mastermind behind every scheme at the Yellowstone-Dutton Ranch, and she used this knowledge to trick her adopted brother Jamie (Wes Bentley) into killing his biological father, Garrett (Will Patton).

Beth believed Garrett had it coming after it was discovered that he had ordered the attempted hits on John, Beth, and Kayce (Luke Grimes) back in Season 3. In order to keep Jamie under control and out of the governor's race, she also made sure to hold on to the evidence. As a result, their father is now the only Dutton running for office. In essence, it's Beth's world, and everyone else is just existing in it. She recently got married to Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), and she witnessed her father's new, perplexing vegan special friend (Piper Perabo) being sent to prison.

Kayce has been on a challenging spiritual journey that has given him a vision of two paths, which complicates Beth's quest to rule Montana. He informed Monica (Kelsey Asbille) that at least one of those options would spell "the end of us." Whatever that means, it can't be good, and the lengthy wait for Season 5's fourteen episodes is made all the more difficult.
