Lanre was an Islander on Season 5 of the revived series of Love Island. He entered the house on day 1 and was made to exit the show on day 9, leaving many fans shocked. However, later on, Lanre gave everyone a clarification that his exit from the show came after mutually agreeing with the makers of the show. When asked for the reason, Lanre revealed that he had to leave the show because he broke the villa rules and that poor judgment got the worst of him.
This explanation was given way later after Lanre had left the show and not at the time of his exit. For the unversed, Lanre is a 20 years old chef/semi-professional rugby player who took part in the fifth season of Love Island but was removed from the show just 9 days after his entry.
What was the reason Sherif Lanre was removed from Love Island?
Sherif Lander opened up about the major goof-up he stirred in the show, during his exclusive interview with The Sun. While talking to them, Lanre revealed that he was removed from the villa due to an incident with fellow islander Molly-Mae where he accidentally kicked her in the crotch during a play fight and called it a "cunt punt".
During the interview, Sherif Lanre explained that the play-fighting incident happened when he, Tommy Fury, and Molly-Mae, were preparing to go to bed. Lanre began explaining the incident by saying, “Molly-Mae was in the unisex bathroom about to brush her teeth and Tommy and I went in to do the same." He then continued by saying, “I gave her a jokey look and she turned round and said something like, ‘Do you want some?’ She was just messing around." “We started acting out these karate moves. She punched me on the arm in a jokey way, I did not hit her back but at some point I kicked upwards and caught her by accident."
Lanre further explained, “I didn’t mean to. I realized too late that she had moved forwards. My toes crashed into her groin and I guess the impact of us moving in the same direction made it quite hard, but it wasn’t that hard." “Molly-Mae crouched over in a defensive position and I was worried I had hurt her."
“I reached out my arm to check she was OK but she stood up and made a face that said, ‘You’re being cheeky.’ I turned to Tommy and said, ‘That’s a cunt punt.’"
Was Molly-Mae mad at Sherif Lanre after the vile joke?
According to Lanre, Molly-Mae was not at all offended by the vila joke, and he, Tommy Fury, and Molly-Mae laughed over it. “We were all laughing and kept talking afterward about different things, I can’t remember what," Lanre told The Sun.
Lanre also said, “Molly-Mae must have heard it but didn’t seem offended so there was no need to apologize. Tommy and I went downstairs to go to bed after brushing our teeth. Molly-Mae came down two minutes later." “We all said ‘good night’ and went to sleep. There’s no way she made a complaint," Lanre concluded.
