American swimmer Ryan Murphy, an Olympian, was born in Chicago, Illinois. Murphy is a four-time Olympic gold medalist and also set a world record in the 100-meter backstroke in his Olympic debut. He clocked a time of 51.85s, which was later surpassed by Italian swimmer Thomas Ceccon at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest. The 28-year-old set another world record at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 4x100m men’s medley relay, where he clocked a time of 3:26.78.

Along with exceptional Olympic swims, Murphy also excelled in the Pan Pacific Championships by setting championship records in the 100m and 200m backstroke events, clocking a time of 51.94s and 1:53.57, respectively. He stood atop the podium for the 4x100m medley relay as well and earned the male swimmer of the meet honors.
