He was a semifinalist at the 2024 Barcelona Open, where he lost to Casper Ruud, and a finalist at the 2024 ATP Houston, where he lost to Ben Shelton. Etcheverry also reached the quarter final of the 2024 Argentina Open in both the singles and doubles categories.

Etcheverry is known for playing in doubles tournaments and reached the quarterfinal of the 2024 Italian Open with Francisco Cerundolo, where they lost to Ben Shelton and Alexander Bublik.

Nicknamed 'Tomy', Etcheverry started playing tennis at the age of five, after his parents gave him a paddle ball with string during a family vacation. His tennis idols are Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro.

Etcheverry turned professional in 2017. He made his ATP tour debut at the Delray Beach Open in 2021. He won his first ATP match at the Córdoba Open in 2021, against Andrej Martin.
