Japanese professional wrestler and actress Kaori Housako was born on September 23, 1988. She is a part of Damage CTRL and is contracted to WWE, where she competes on SmackDown under the ring name Kairi Sane.

She competed as Kairi Hojo in the ring for the Japanese promotion World Wonder Ring Stardom from 2012 to 2017. Living according to her "Pirate Princess" character, she won the World of Stardom championship once, the Wonder of Stardom championship once, the Goddess of Stardom championship three times, and the Artist of Stardom championship five times. She also won the Goddesses of Stardom Tag League in 2016 and the 5-Star GP in 2015.

After joining WWE in 2017, she took on the ring name Kairi Sane. That same year, she became victorious in the first Mae Young Classic tournament and was signed to the NXT label. She won the NXT Women's Championship in 2018 and went on to win the Female Competitor of the Year and Overall Competitor of the Year awards at the 2018 NXT Year-End Awards.

As part of The Kabuki Warriors, she made her main roster debut in 2019 and went on to become the longest-reigning WWE Women's Tag Team Champion, ever, along with Asuka. Additionally, the team won the Women's Tag Team of the Year title at the 2019 WWE Year-End Award. She and her spouse moved back to Japan in 2020, where she worked as a WWE trainer and ambassador until her contract was terminated in December 2021.

She returned to World Wonder Ring Stardom in February 2022, following her time with WWE. Along with her work for NJPW, she was the first-ever IWGP Women's Champion. In November 2023, at Crown Jewel, she made her WWE comeback after being a free agent in March 2023.
