DeVonta Smith is an American professional football wide receiver, playing for the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL as of 2024. He was selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft with pick number 10 by the Philadelphia Eagles. Smith made a name for himself during his college career at the University of Alabama, where he dazzled with over 1,800 yards and 23 touchdowns in his senior year. His remarkable performance earned him the Heisman Trophy, making him the first wide receiver to win the award since 1991. Before joining the Eagles as the tenth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Smith also secured two national championships with Alabama, solidifying his legacy as one of college football's standout players.Smith has been as advertised since entering the league in 2021. Smith attended the University of Alabama and played as a wide receiver on the Alabama Crimson Tide’s football team. Throughout his four years of college, he had 235 receptions for 3,965 receiving yards and 46 touchdowns. Most of his production in college football came in his junior and senior years, with his senior year standing out the most. Smith was part of two College Football Playoff National Championships. He was a member of the 2017 and 2020 Alabama football teams which both went on to win the CFP National Championships.

Additionally, Smith was instrumental in the 2020 CFP National Championship game as he set records for the most catches in a title game with 12 and touchdown receptions with three. Overall, he had 215 receiving yards and managed to do all this in just a little over two-quarters of play as he had to leave the field with a hand injury early in the third quarter. For his outstanding play, Smith was named the CFP National Championship Offensive MVP in 2020.
