Anfernee Simons

Anfernee Simons is an American basketball player who plays as the starting point guard for the Portland Trail Blazers. Born on June 8, 1999, Simons played prep basketball at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, where he emerged as a five-star athlete in the nation.

In the 2018 NBA Draft, Simons was picked 24th overall by the Trail Blazers, making him only the third high school player to be drafted in the NBA since 2015, following Australian Thon Maker and Indian Satnam Singh Bhamara.

Early in his career, Simons showcased excellent athleticism and served as a backup point guard to Damian Lillard. He developed his craft under the guidance of the former Blazers superstar.

Simons' ultra-athletic prowess came to the forefront when he won the 2021 Slam Dunk competition. However, he soon showcased that he isn’t just an athletic dunker, but a player with many offensive skills. It was during the 2021/22 season that Simons displayed massive improvement by elevating his scoring average from 7.8 points per game to an impressive 17.3 ppg.

As the Blazers entered the rebuilding phase, Simons became their focal point. He will be a key leader in the upcoming youth revolution at Portland.
