Boban Marjanovic is a Serbian professional basketball player. Boban is an emerging NBA star playing for Houston Rockets from last year. He was born on August 15th 1988 in Boljevac, Serbia. His 7 feet 4 inch height and exceptional skills on the court have helped him throughout his career. Boban is recognised due to his height and humble demeanor.

Parents

Boban always mentions his mother in all his interviews. He thanked her for what she has done for him. Smilja Marjanovic (Mother) resides in Serbia and is often seen with Boban at his home in America. His mother always loved him for what he does and supported him in his basketball career.

Smilja comes from a middle-class family who married Boban’s father and raised two kids. At the moment, she spends most of her time with her grandchildren.

Boban has never mentioned much about his father. Whenever he talks about him, he likes to speak of him as Mr. Marjanovic. In terms of height, his parents are not very tall, standing at 5’9” and 5’7” inches.

Mr Marjanovic taught his son how to play the game at the age of 11. He was then sent to a professional coach, and then to Hemofarm.

Early Life

Growing up in Serbia, Boban faced a lot of challenges, especially related to his height. He was often teased by his peers, but his parents' unwavering support helped him turn a potential disadvantage into a strength. He was introduced to basketball at the age of 14, relatively late compared to other professionals.

Under the guidance of his first coach, coupled with endless hours of practice, Boban started showing remarkable progress. His parents continued to support him, traveling to games and ensuring that he stayed grounded. Their encouragement helped him move up through local teams, eventually earning a spot in the Serbian professional league.

NBA Career

The professional career of Boban begin in Europe where he played for several teams. Also, he got the attention of the NBA. Later in 2015, he was first drafted by San Antonio Spurs.

Despite some of the initial struggles, Boban adapted to the NBA playing style. Whereas, his height and exceptional skills helped him to become a star player in the game. He played for Dallas Mavericks from 2016 to 2018, and also for Los Angeles Clippers from the very next year till 2019. In 2019, Boban was traded to Philadelphia 76rs alongside with his teammate Tobias Harris.

Boban then signed a three-year contract with Dallas Mavericks in 2019 where he also played exceptionally well and got a win against Denver Nuggets in 2020 before Covid.

Now since 2022, Boban is playing for the Houston Rockets, where he was traded in exchange for Christian Wood.

Boban's career in the NBA is a testimony to his resilience and the strong foundation laid by his parents. His soft touch around the basket and ability to block shots has made him an essential asset to his teams. Off the court, his friendly nature and engaging personality have made him a fan favorite.
