Standing at 6 feet 10 inches tall, Daniel Gafford is an American center/power forward who plays for the Dallas Mavericks. He is renowned for his terrific ability to finish strongly around the rim.

Born on October 1, 1998, in El Dorado, Arkansas, Gafford had a solid two-year college career at the University of Arkansas from 2017 to 2019. Following his college tenure, he was selected 38th overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 2019 NBA Draft.

In his rookie season, Gafford underwent adjustments while also playing for the Windy City Bulls in the G League. However, his true breakout came after being traded to the Washington Wizards in March 2021. With the Wizards, he first showcased an exceptional ability to finish strongly at the rim with remarkable efficiency. During the 2021 NBA playoffs, Gafford set an NBA record for the highest field goal percentage with 84.6%. (minimum 15 shot attempts).

Despite his growth with the Wizards, Gafford was eventually traded to the Dallas Mavericks on the trade deadline in 2024. He was immediately inserted into the starting lineup by coach Jason Kidd, and this proved to be a masterstroke. Gafford played a crucial role in transforming the Mavs as they went on a 18-3 record since his arrival.

With Gafford's presence as a starter alongside stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the Mavericks are poised for a deep playoff run.
