Dariq Miller Whitehead is a basketball player from America. Born on August 1, 2004, in Newark, N.J., he plays college-level basketball for the Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball team of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).


At the age of 13, Dariq Whitehead left his hometown (Newark, N.J.) and moved to Montverde, Florida, to attend Montverde Academy. While playing for high school, he participated in the 2019 USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team October Minicamp. Dariq averaged 9.3 points and 3.8 rebounds during his junior season at Montverde. Dariq Whitehead guided his school’s team to win back-to-back GEICO High School National Championships.


Following his senior season at Montverde, Dariq received offers from different agencies, including Kansas and Florida State. On August 1, 2021, He committed to play college basketball for Duke. Dariq missed the initial four games due to a foot injury. He played his first match for his college against Delaware. He scored eight points in a gameplay of 25 minutes against Iowa and recorded a career-high six rebounds and three assists.


Dariq had a lower-leg injury in a match at Virginia Tech, so he missed many games against many teams, including Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and North Carolina. Dariq returned from the injury in Duke’s game at Virginia and scored in double figures in his third game with 10 points. He played in the ACC tournament and scored 16 points against Miami in the semifinals.
