Jalen Tyrese Johnson is an American small forward who plays for the Atlanta Hawks. Johnson is known for his explosive ultra-athletic playing style, particularly his lethal ability to attack the rim and finishing in transition.

Born on December 18, 2001, in Wausau, Wisconsin, Johnson began his high school career at Sun Prairie High School before transferring to Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wisconsin. He led Nicolet to the Division 2 State Championship and was honored with the Associated Press Player of the Year for Wisconsin. Regarded as a consensus five-star recruit, Johnson then played one season for the Duke Blue Devils for the 2020/21 college season.

Subsequently, Jalen Johnson was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the 20th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. After coming off the bench in his first couple seasons, Johnson steadily refined his game and had a breakout season in 2023/24.

During the 2023/24 season, Johnson earned a starting role with the Hawks. His minutes increased significantly, from 14.9 in the 2022/23 NBA season to 33.7 per game during 2023/24 season. Moreover, his scoring output also soared from 5.6 points per game to a remarkable 16.0 points per game.

Johnson has improved his offensive intelligence and understanding of the game, and has developed an excellent coordination with star point guard Trae Young.
