Born and raised in Adelaide, Ingles played junior basketball for the Southern Tigers and attended Pasadena High School. As a kid, Ingles's dream was to play for the Adelaide 36ers and Australia. And Ingles would have a chance to accomplish both his dreams, but unfortunately, after being sought by the Adelaide 36ers, Ingles couldn’t negotiate a suitable contract for him and ended up declining the contract offer he got from the team.

Ingles has played in many different leagues and many different teams before landing a spot in an NBA team. In 2006, Ingles signed a deal with the South Dragons of the NBL. Ingles was the first player the club ever signed. He played 3 years with the team before transferring to Liga ACB where he played one season for the CB Granada, a Spanish club. Then in 2010, Ingles transferred to FC Barcelona where he signed a 3-year deal, and in 2013-14, Ingles announced that he would not be returning to FC Barcelona. After his Barcelona stint, Ingles played one season for the Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv, which was coached by NBA coach David Blatt before he finally got his big break and signed with the Utah Jazz.

In the NBA, Ingles established himself as one of the more respectable players in the league. His shooting ability made him an invaluable piece to the Utah Jazz and he was a vital cog in the many playoff runs the Jazz had in his tenure over there. Most notably in the 2017-18 season, Ingles was one of the main reasons for the Jazz's stunning victory over the heavily favored Oklahoma City Thunder. He has proven himself to be an adequate ball handler and along with Rudy Gobert, formed one of the deadliest pick-and-roll combos in the league. In his words, Ingles considered himself to be the best shooter in the league and truth be told, he made a compelling argument for that.

Tragedy struck Ingles as in the 2020-21 season, Ingles tore his ACL, sidelining him for the rest of the season and putting a huge speed break on his basketball career. It took him a while to get back on track but after one year, Ingles was finally back to playing NBA basketball when he got signed by the Milwaukee Bucks. After one season, the Bucks traded Ingles and now he’s currently playing for the Orlando Magic.
