Karl-Anthony Towns Jr. is a Dominican-American professional basketball player who plays center for the New York Knicks as of May 2025. He was picked first overall in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft. Towns made history by becoming the third-ever Kentucky player to be picked first overall. Towns joined St. Joseph High School, where he averaged 20.9 points, 13.4 rebounds and 6.2 blocks per game during his senior season. He helped the St. Joseph Falcons to win two state championships in 2012 and 2014.
After graduating from St. Joseph, Towns committed to the University of Kentucky to play under former NBA head coach John Calipari. In one season in with the Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team, Towns averaged 10.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game as per his college roster. By the end of the season, Towns won the SEC Rookie of the Year award and received selections for the 2014-15 All-SEC first team and All-SEC freshman team.
