Matisse Vincent Thybulle is an Australian - American basketball player. He has played for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA in the past. He is now playing in the Guard-Forward position for the Portland Trail Blazers.


Matisse Thybulle was born on March 4, 1997, in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States. His parents named him after Henry Matisse, the French artist. He played college basketball in the United States before joining the NBA. He eventually made his NBA debut for the Philadelphia 76ers on October 23, 2019. Since then he has impressed people with his basketball skills. He has gained achievements like winning the Lefty Driesell Award in 2019. He was also the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year in 2019. Additionally, he was also the NCAA season steals leader in 2019. Apart from the NBA, Matisse Thybulle has competed for Australia at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.


Thybulle has achieved a PPG of 4.1 with an RPG of 2.0, an APG of 0.7 and a PIE of 5.5 in his NBA career so far. He will play for the Australia National Basketball Team in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Matisse Thybulle’s mother was the late Dr. Elizabeth Thybulle (nee Sehrer). She was a naturopath by profession. She taught her son to fight in life and never allow anything to prevent him from getting whatever he wants.


However, she was diagnosed with leukemia and chemotherapies weakened her immune system. This led her to contract an infection and resultantly, slip into a coma. Unfortunately, she passed away in 2015 at 50 years old leaving behind her husband Greg, her son Matisse and her daughter Chloe. Matisse Thybulle is ensuring that his mother’s legacy lives on through him.

Matisse Thybulle’s father is Greg Thybulle. He is an engineer by profession. He is always present during his son’s games and records the action with a camera on a monopod. He and his late wife Elizabeth helped the people of Haiti after they suffered from an earthquake in 2010.
