Born on May 12, 1998, Mo Bamba is an American-Ivorian professional basketball player who plays for the Philadelphia 76ers in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Bamba’s basketball journey began at Cardigan Mountain School and Westtown School. He averaged 14.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 6.0 blocks per game as a junior, and took part in the 2017 McDonald's All-American Game and the Nike Hoop Summit that year.
Bamba was considered one of the top high school prospects for the class of 2017. He played college basketball for the Texas Longhorns, where he registered 15 points, eight rebounds in a blowout win against Northwestern State on his debut.
In his one season in college, Bamba averaged 12.9 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. He was named a member of the Big 12's All-Newcomer Team and All-Defensive Team, as well as being named a member of the All-Big 12 Second Team.
The Orlando Magic selected Bamba with the sixth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He made his NBA debut on October 17, 2018, against the Miami Heat, where he recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks off the bench, guiding his team to the win.
After five seasons in Orlando, Bamba was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers on February 9, 2023, as a part of a four-team trade involving the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets. Bamba and the Philadelphia 76ers agreed on a deal on July 9, 2023, after the Lakers waived him off.
