Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, USA, Williams III was drafted 27th overall in 2018 by the Boston Celtics. In 2022, he was part of the Celtics team that went all the way to the NBA finals but lost to Golden State Warriors. After five solid seasons with the Celitcs, Williams III was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in a deal that sent Jrue Holiday to Celtics.
