Athanasios Rotimi “Thanasis” Antetokounmpo is a Greek-Nigerian professional basketball player signed with the Milwaukee Bucks. At 6 feet and 7 inches tall, Thanasis primarily plays as a small forward/power forward.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo is the older brother of two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. In 2011, he started his professional level career with Filathlitikos, a third division team in Greece. He soon entered the US basketball circuit when he was selected by the Delaware 87ers in the G league draft.

During the 2013/14 G League season, Thanasis showcased his two-way skills and athleticism, averaging 12.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.3 blocks per game in 50 appearances. He earned a spot on the NBA G League All-Defensive third team.

Subsequently, the New York Knicks drafted Thanasis Antetokounmpo with the 51st overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. However, he struggled to settle in the NBA and had multiple stints in the G League. He later returned to Europe, signing with MoraBanc Andorra of the Liga ACB for the 2016/17 season and then joining Panathinaikos in the Greek league from 2017 to 2019.

In July 2019, Thanasis Antetokounmpo made a comeback to the NBA by signing with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he reunited with brother Giannis. Thanasis Antetokounmpo was part of the Bucks’ 2021 NBA Finals championship run. Besides his NBA career, he also represents the Greek men’s national team.
