Young was born on September 19, 1998, in Lubbock, Texas, to parents Candice and Rayford Young. His father played basketball at Texas Tech and as a professional in Europe. Young also has a younger brother and two younger sisters. His uncle was also a basketball player and played college basketball in the NAIA.
