Who are Rayan Rupert's parents?

The NBA league is enriched with many international stars like Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Luka Doncic. These stars are not only huge megastars but are franchise players for their respective teams. In the 2023 NBA draft, we can expect one more international star coming into the league from France – Rayan Rupert.


Rayan Rupert played for the New Zealand Breakers of Australia’s National Basketball League. Playing at guard position Rupert averaged 6.6 points per game coming off the bench. Interestingly NBA already had players like Hugo Besson and Ousmane Dieng selected in the recent NBA draft.


Rupert also played for Centre Fédéral in the French NM1 Between 2019 and 2021. Later moved to the Pôle France team in the NM1 tournament. Although Rayan might not have a very flashy stat line, the talented star is just 19 years old and has the capability to achieve higher success.

Born on March 31st, 2004, Rayan Rupert spent his childhood in France. He graduated from the INSEP Academy in France. Coming back to his basketball interest, Rayan Rupert comes from a basketball pedigree. His father, Thierry, played in the French basketball league. More so his older sister Iliana plays in the States with Las Vegas and even won a WNBA title.


Playing with jersey number 12, Rupert explained the reasons behind it. He mentioned, “I went to number 12 because my dad played with number 12 when he played basketball,” We can understand the impact of Thierry Rupert on Rayan’s basketball game.


Also having his sister playing in the top women’s basketball league, Rayan is encouraged to take his shot at the NBA. It surely is important to continue his family’s story in basketball, which would rather be a massive driving force for the youngster.


“It’s very important for my family, for me and my sister to represent number 12.” Rayan added to his comments on the jersey and the importance of the family’s impact on his game. Playing in the French league, Thierry was very popular and a good scorer of the ball. He also represented the French national team from 2001 to 2004.


Highlighting this point, Rayan Rupert also mentioned that it is important for him to continue the legacy of the Rupert family in basketball. We are sure that the gifted star would achieve his goal one day.
