Amarius Tyron Mims, born on October 14, 2002, is an American football offensive tackle known for his formidable presence for the Georgia Bulldogs on the field. The 6-foot-7, 340 pounds massive lineman with 36” inch long hands passes the built for tackle position with flying colors. After spending three seasons in Athens, Mims finally declared for the 2024 NFL draft. Hailing from Cochran, Georgia, he honed his skills at Bleckley County High School, where he established himself as a five-star recruit. Despite attracting attention from esteemed football programs such as Alabama and Tennessee, Mims pledged his commitment to the University of Georgia.
During his initial season with the Bulldogs, Mims showcased his talent in seven games, contributing significantly from the bench. Following the season, he briefly explored the NCAA transfer portal but ultimately reaffirmed his dedication to Georgia for his sophomore year. As a sophomore, he initially played as a reserve in 12 games before stepping into a crucial role following an injury to the starting right tackle. Mims demonstrated his prowess in the 2022 Peach Bowl and the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship, solidifying his position as a key player for the Bulldogs.
The Cochran native is very very green in experience as he has only seven starts under his belt in the last 3 years. According to PFF, he has only allowed 1.5% pressure percentage during his tenure as a Bulldog. He is an easy, smooth mover with fluid redirect skills, range and body control. His long arms along with other physical tools shine in pass protection as evident by his 78.8 pass blocking grade for 2023 season. However, his feet are a work in progress. Mims carries a 1st round draft projection due to his elite build and according to evaluators, if teams can look away from his experience, he has traits to become a future pro-bowler.
