Brandon Johnson is an American football defensive back who will be playing his final year of college football with the Oregon Ducks. He began his high school football career at the Newton-Conover High School where he was rated a consensus three-star recruit by 247Sports. He played in both offense and defence during his junior year, slotting in the running back and safety positions. Johnson recorded 49 tackles, one tackle for loss, and 12 pass breakups in 13 games during his senior season. He also registered 38 receptions for 662 yards while playing on the offensive side of the ball. Johnson was rated the No.55 prospect in the state of North Carolina in the 2021 recruiting class.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Newton native embarked on his collegiate football journey with Duke over offers from Akron, Army, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Kent State, NC State, Northwestern, Tennessee, and Wake Forest. As a freshman in 2021 with the Blue Devils, Johnson saw action in all 12 games and was primarily used on special teams. The following year as a sophomore, Johnson became a vital part of Duke’s defence and started in all 13 games. Last year, Johnson recorded 56 tackles, two sacks and four pass breakups and was named an All-ACC honourable mention. After three seasons with the Blue Devils, Johnson entered the transfer portal in 2023 and signed with Oregon Ducks for his final year of college football.
