He played as a wide receiver for his high school team, finishing his high school career with remarkable statistics that included 232 receptions for 4,035 yards and 53 touchdowns. In his junior year of high school, Greathouse recorded 66 receptions for 1,274 yards and 20 touchdowns, leading Westlake to its third consecutive state championship. In recognition of his skills, he was named the Offensive MVP of the 2021 State Championship game after posting a record-setting 236 receiving yards. In basketball, he averaged 13.8 points per game as a junior and helped his team reach the Texas 6A state semifinals. Greathouse committed to play college football at Notre Dame over offers from several prestigious programs, including Texas and Oklahoma. He made an immediate impact upon his arrival at Notre Dame. In his debut against the Navy, he caught three passes for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Greathouse faced challenges with a lingering hamstring injury but finished with 18 receptions for 265 yards and five touchdowns.
