In 2020, he continued to develop as a redshirt freshman, appearing in five games and making one start, where he showcased his dual-threat capabilities by throwing for three touchdowns and rushing for two. By 2021, Jefferson became the starting quarterback leading the team to an 8-4 record. His 2023 season was filled with many challenges, which included injuries and a struggling offensive line. Despite these difficulties, he still managed to pass for 2,107 yards and 19 touchdowns, although he also recorded eight interceptions, the highest in his career. On January 1, 2024, he committed to UCF, where he is expected to make an immediate impact. His experience and dual-threat ability position him as a key player for the Knights, who are looking to contend in the Big-12 Conference.
