Payton Thorne is an American football quarterback who will be playing his final year of college football with the Auburn Tigers. He began his high school football career at the Metea Valley High School before transferring to Naperville Central. He was one of the top-ranked quarterbacks in the state of Illinois in the 2019 recruiting class. During his three years at varsity, Thorne accumulated 7,008 passing yards and 83 touchdowns while also adding 1, 035 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns. Thorne was rated a three-star prospect coming out of Naperville Central and received the 2018 Illinois Offensive Player of the Year honors by USA Today.
