Peyton Thompson, born on January 21, 2000, is an American football quarterback who most recently graduated from Oklahoma State University. He started his high school football career at the Union High School where he was rated a three-star prospect. He led the Redskins to a state championship in 2017 as a sophomore. The two-year starter led his school to a Class 6AI runner-up as a junior and was named All-District Offensive Player of the Year in his senior year. Thompson concluded his high school career with 5,700 passing yards and 66 touchdowns.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound quarterback began his collegiate football journey with Oklahoma State over offers from Abilene Christian, Columbia, Eastern Michigan, Iowa State, Princeton, Rice, and Texas Tech among others. As a freshman in 2019 with the Cowboys, Thompson redshirted his debut year despite earning a spot on the travel roster. He did not appear in any games for the next seasons as he was way down the pecking order in the QB chart. For three-plus seasons with the Cowboys, Thompson did not see any action. For the next three seasons (2019-2021), Thompson did not appear in any games and redshirted his freshman year. After three disappointing seasons, Thompson entered the transfer portal in May 2022 to join the Central Oklahoma Bronchos. In 2022 as a junior, Thompson saw action in nine games where he added 13 carries for 38 yards.
