He was rated as a five-star prospect by Rivals and PrepStar rankings, he was named to the All-American team by Sports Illustrated and USA Today. He was also invited to play in the 2020 All-American Bowl. Ratledge guided Darlington to a 9-2 mark and the Region top 6 seed during his senior year. He was a two-time All-State first-team member and also the 2019 Opening Finals Dream Team pick. He also played basketball and ran track events in high school, finishing third in shot put at the 2019 Class A-Private State Championships.
