About Arnold Palmer Invitational 2025

The Arnold Palmer Invitational 2025 is scheduled to take place from March 6 to 9 at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, Florida, in the United States. It is a 72-hole stroke-play event with a purse of $20 million and a winner's share of $4 million. The Arnold Palmer Invitational has a field of 70-80 golfers, given that it is an invitational event with limited fields. Only four other events on tour have invitational status. Also, it is one of the eight signature events on the PGA Tour and third chronologically in the 2025 season.
Arnold Palmer Invitational history
Originally established in 1966 and continuing through 1978, it was known as the Florida Citrus Open Invitational before being replaced by its current name, Arnold Palmer Invitational, in 1979. In more than 40 years since its inception, the event's names and sponsors have changed several times. It was renamed the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2007, and a decade later, in 2017, every winner of the event received a red cardigan sweater in honor of Palmer, who passed away in 2016. Arnold Palmer won the Florida Citrus Open in 1971.

Arnold Palmer Invitational 2025 course
The Arnold Palmer Invitational 2025 will be held at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, Florida. Bay Hill Club was owned by Arnold Palmer from 1974 to the day of his passing in 2016. Afterwards, the ownership rights were transferred to his daughter, Amy Palmer, and his son-in-law, Roy Saunders.
The club has 27 holes available, divided among the Challenger, Champion, and Charger Nines. The Arnold Palmer Invitational is held on the former two courses. Dick Wilson designed the Challenger and Champion Nines, which has 72 pars and measures 7,381 yards long. The course rating is 75.2, while the slope rating is 138.
The 9th hole, a 480-yard par-4, is the hardest. In 2024, it was the 26th hardest hole on the Tour, measuring 0.177 strokes over par. The par-4 8th hole was No. 38, while the par-4 15th hole was the 34th Tour's hardest hole. Further, the design will change somewhat in 2025. There has long been a beach-like bunker in front of the green that extended into the water on the par-3 17th hole; in 2025, the sandy area is rocky. (via Sports Illustrated)
