The Arnold Palmer Invitational is one of the eight signature events of the PGA Tour. Due to this, the event has a larger purse of $20 million, with a winner's share of $4 million as of March 2025. However, it is an invitational event, so it has a limited field of 70-80 players. The Arnold Palmer Invitational was first held in 1966 as the "Florida Citrus Open Invitational" and has changed titles multiple times over the years.
The event was named after Arnold Palmer in 2007, which he won in early 1971. Since 1979, the event has been set up at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge. Furthermore, in 2019, the event was added to the Open Qualifying Series, allowing up to three non-exempt players to compete in the Open Championship.
Who won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2025?
Russell Henley won the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational, taking home $4 million of the $20 million winner's share.
Henley took the lead with a chip-in eagle 3 on the par-5 16th hole to win his sixth PGA Tour title. He took the lead from Collin Morikawa and won with an 11-under 277 after holding on with pars on the last two holes. Henley shot 70 on the final day, while Morikawa shot an even-par 72. After a solid final round, Corey Conners ended in solo third place, two strokes behind Henley with a 9-under total.
Who won the Arnold Palmer Invitational 2024?
Scottie Scheffler won the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill Club and Lodge, Florida, earning his second Arnold Palmer Invitational victory. He took home the $4 million winner's share of the $20 million purse, along with 700 FedEx Cup points.
In the final round, Scheffler won by a wide margin of 15-under 273, which included a closing round of 66 in which he dominated from tee to green. Shane Lowry completed the top three with a 9-under total, while Wyndham Clark finished in solo second place with a 10-under total.
The 2024 winner's share was $40,000 more than the past season ($3.6 million), which is the designated amount for signature events, with only the Players Championship offering more than that. But now, the Arnold Palmer Invitational has joined the list of events that provide more.
