Lee became a professional golfer in 2010 and joined the OneAsia Tour in 2011. He qualified through an institution and finished tied for sixth place, putting him in 39th place overall on the Order of Merit. He won the Nagashima Shigeo Invitational Sega Sammy Cup in July of the same year.

In September 2015, Lee earned his first victory on the OneAsia Tour by winning the Kolon Korea Open with a four-stroke lead. Then, in October 2015, he won the Honma World Cup at Trophia Golf, marking his third overall win and second on the Japan Golf Tour.

In 2016, Lee moved to the US to play on the Web.com Tour after finishing eighth in the qualifying round. He finished fourth in the WinCo Foods Portland Open and went on to win the Kolon Korean Open two weeks later. In October, he secured second place in both the Bridgestone Open and the Japan Open Golf Championship. However, on the Web.com Tour, he struggled to place higher than 78th overall and had to return to the qualifying round, where he tied for 14th place. In 2017, he made a comeback to the Web.com Tour and managed to tie for third place in the Rex Hospital Open. This helped him get promoted to the PGA Tour in 2018, after finishing fifth on the Web.com Tour regular season standings.

One stroke behind victor Brooks Koepka, Lee tied for second place in the 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open. By shooting 26-under par at the AT&T Byron Nelson the following year, Lee successfully defended his championship, defeating Jordan Spieth by one stroke.
