Former world No. 1 Martin Kaymer was born on December 28, 1984. As an amateur, the golfer won two amateur titles in 2003 and 2004. He turned professional at the age of 20 in 2005 and won his first professional event at the Central German Classic on the EPD Tour. Kaymer achieved world No. 1 in 2011 for three weeks as per the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).

Kaymer initially played on the EPD Tour and then the Challenger Tour, through which he earned a European Tour card in 2007. He has won a total of 23 professional wins, including the 2010 PGA Championship, the 2014 US Open, the 2011 WGC-HSBC Champions and the 2014 Players Championship. In 2022, he joined the LIV Golf League.

In 2014, Kaymer won the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, against Bubba Watson in a playoff, and before that, he won the 2014 U.S. Open, defeating Erik Compton and Ricke Fowler by eight strokes. At the 2024 PGA Championship, he finished tied for 73rd place and his OWG is No. 1604.
