The Players Championship, often known as the fifth major, will be held from March 13-16, 2025, at the TPC at Sawgrass, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Although it is not an official golf major and doesn't fall in the PGA's eight signature events, it is one of the most notable events on the Tour due to its high-quality field, large purse, and a course like TPC at Sawgrass, known for its difficulty. The event was the brainchild of the 1974 PGA Commissioner, Deane Beman. The more-than-50-year-old event was initially named "Tournament Players Championship," but the prefix was dropped in 1987.
