- The pitch looks like a belter for batting. The hardness remains the same on this track, so that's the good news for Asalanka, winning the toss and opting to chase. 180 and 190 remains a challenging total and we are going to see plenty of runs here

Thanks a lot for joining us - Pragadeesh and Mohul Bhowmick - for this exciting game of cricket in the Lanka Premier League 2024 between Dambulla Sixers and Jaffna Kings, which the latter won. We hope you had as much fun as we did bringing this to you. Until next time, ciao!
Charith Asalanka (Jaffna Kings' captain): I planned to bowl as two left-handers were opening the innings for them. I think we have enough resources in our ranks. Dananjaya bowled very well and gave me a lot of support. It was a phenomenal game; Avishka batted extremely well. His innings gave us a lot of energy.
Mohammad Nabi (Dambulla Sixers' captain): We had enough runs on the board especially on such a wicket. Avishka and Asalanka played extremely well and that is why we lost the game. We should have defended that total but unfortunately, we could not.
Avishka Fernando is the Player of the Match: (In Sinhalese) I am very pleased with my innings. I was trying to get to the score as quickly as possible. I am happy with the way my knock helped my team win the match.
Dambulla Sixers seemed to be in complete control of this game but that is when Charith Asalanka and Avishka Fernando decided to step up and take responsibility for their team.
The duo made a mockery of this steep chase for Jaffna and brought them close to the target and punished the Dambulla bowlers whenever the latter made mistakes.
The failure of the top order of Jaffna gave Dambulla the confidence of winning this game but it was knocked out of their sails when the Asalanka-Fernando duo was batting. Jaffna will take a lot of confidence from this win, especially since they were beaten by Galle Marvels at the same venue yesterday.
The side hailing from the northernmost tip of the island of Sri Lanka will hope that this stunning win gives the momentum to carry it forward into the rest of the tournament and allows them to express themselves with full confidence. Dambulla, for their part, will hope that they can improve upon their bowling showing in their next game.
It goes down to the last delivery, but Allen does it for Jaffna!

19.6 Nimesh Vimukthi to Fabian Allen, SIX! The Kings get their first win. Allen sees the slot delivery and pumps it over long-off to finish things in style
19.5 Nimesh Vimukthi to Fabian Allen, OH! Interesting all the way. Three dots in a row and suddenly, the pressure is on Allen. Spins away from a good length, Allen backs away but the sharp turn takes the ball away from his hitting arc
2 balls in hand...
19.4 Nimesh Vimukthi to Fabian Allen, spears it back on a fuller length, Allen sweeps but gets hit on the pads
19.3 Nimesh Vimukthi to Fabian Allen, spears it around off, Allen backs away to punch this down to extra cover
THE SCORES ARE TIED!
19.2 Nimesh Vimukthi to Azmatullah Omarzai, attacks the stumps from a good length, pushed in front of square for a single
JUST TWO RUNS NEEDED NOW!
19.1 Nimesh Vimukthi to Azmatullah Omarzai, pitched up angling back, driven to the left of long-off for a couple
Nimesh Vimukthi [3-0-41-0] will bowl the final over.
That will help Jaffna a lot! They need just four runs from the last over, and this boundary off the last over will give them a lot of confidence. Omarzai and Allen, the two overseas stars, have to see their team home now.

18.6 Mustafizur Rahman to Fabian Allen, OH! INTO THE FENCE! This releases the pressure. Off-cutter across off, Allen tries to go down the ground but gets a thick outside edge. It flies between two fielders behind square on the off-side
18.5 Mustafizur Rahman to Azmatullah Omarzai, pitched up angling on off-stump, Azmat works it to deep cover for one
