Pitch Report
The back-of-a-length area is bereft of grass at points and with patches of grass elsewhere. So, targeting that area for the bowlers is the way to go. Otherwise, it is a good pitch to bat on.

Wanindu Hasaranga (Player of the Match, 3/10 in four overs): I just tried to do my basic things, bowl wrong un at the stumps and it worked. I like this venue to bowl, even in the Asia Cup, I have been successful. Players did really well, the fast bowlers did a great job along with the batters and as a team we did a good job throughout
Lockie Ferguson (captain, Desert Vipers): The boys are very happy, it was a tough last game and the boys did well to come back. It was a good wicket, we have talked about bowling hard length. Mo has been really good, creating chances but hard luck with it going to hard. Maxi has been unreal, he turns up with a smile every game and really good to see him with runs on board. We have a couple of days off from tomorrow and we'll take about the Capitals game later
James Vince (Gulf Giants captain): It wasn't a great performance with the bat, there is where we lost the game. The first 10 overs of the batting innings put us on the back foot. But Tom Curran pulled it back a bit and we tried to take it deep with the ball. A fantastic partnership between Tom and Aayan Afzal Khan. We bowled pretty well, but every time we put pressure, they released it with a boundary. I fent Gerhard Erasmus was a better option to Aayan tonight, with the number of left-handers in their line-up. Let's put our best foot forward now and see what happens in the points table.
10:07 pm local time (11:37 pm IST): It's time for the post-match presentation!
10:00 pm local time, 11:30 pm IST: Desert Vipers beat Gulf Giants by five wickets
Desert Vipers: 130/5 in 19 overs
Max Holden: 70(54b)* | Blessing Muzarabani: 3/25 (4 overs) Sam Curran: 16(19b) | Mark Adair: 1/21 (4 overs)
A good win for the Desert Vipers. Despite Tom Curran's resistance with the bat in hand, they put on a terrific show with the ball in hand and with the bat, they have done a fine job as well, steering a low and tricky chase home to seal one of the top two spots available. As for the Gulf Giants, their short winning streak of two games comes to an end and now will be looking at the table as a whole to see what they need to do to qualify.
The Vipers lost the early wicket of Alex Hales and soon after lost another opener in Fakhar Zaman. Sam Curran and Max Holden held fort in the middle and following Curran's dismissal, it was Max Holden with the bat at the debutant scored a measured half-century, which ended up being more than half of the total coming from his bat. In the end, he hit the winning runs and ensured that the Vipers had their desired result after a drubbing of sorts in the last game.
As for the Giants bowling, they have some tough questions to answer to Andy Flower in the dressing room. Blessing Muzarabani was the only bowler to pick up in excess of a wicket, while Mark Adair and Chris Jordan picked up two other wickets to fall. They employed two spinners Ayaan Afzal Khan and Gerard Erasmus but that ploy didn't work under the lights, with the Vipers dealing with the tweakers quite easily.

18.6 Tom Curran to Max Holden, AND THAT ENDS THE MATCH! DESERT VIPERS GUARANTEE A TOP-TWO FINISH! Short and slow outside off-stump. Cut away off the backfoot to the right of deep point for the winning two runs.
18.5 Tom Curran to Adam Hose, dug in short on off-and-middle. Hose tries to hook it away off the back foot but fails to connect properly. But the batters get a run towards fine-leg.
18.4 Tom Curran to Adam Hose, length ball on leg-stump, following the batter. Driven back to the bowler from the crease on the up, no run.
18.3 Tom Curran to Max Holden, full and wide outside off-stump. Squirted out to deep backward point from the open bat face for a single.
18.2 Tom Curran to Max Holden, good length ball on off-stump. Holden walks down the wicket and knocks it down to long-off for a brace.
18.1 Tom Curran to Max Holden, over the wicket, FOUR RUNS! Short around off-stump. Pulled away off the back foot to the left of mid-wicket for a boundary!
Tom Curran [3-0-24-0] comes back into the attack
Gulf Giants bring in their best spinner in the attack late in the game, but the late introduction seems to have done no improvement to the state of the game for them. Vipers need 10 runs to wn in 12 balls

17.5 Aayan Afzal Khan to Adam Hose, short around off-stump. Crunched away off the back foot to the left of deep cover point for a well-judged three!
17.4 Aayan Afzal Khan to Max Holden, good length ball on middle-and-off. Punched off the back foot to wide long-off for a single again.
17.3 Aayan Afzal Khan to Adam Hose, Oh! Back of a length on leg-stump. Hose makes room and inside-edges to short fine-leg off the attempted punch through cover, for a single.
