We're on pitch number six, wasn't used last year. Dimensions are, to my right 68m, 74m to the semi-circle. 73m to the downtown and a 55m pocket. It's pretty dry but the local knowledge says, there'll be a bit of extra bounce confirms Kartik. There's a good grass covering, live grass in the center. Josh Hazlewood and Ishant Sharma would be operating on it. It's very firm, it does look to be on the dry side and might be a good track. Toss doesn't really play a role looking at games in the past. 197 is the average first innings total, expect something similar. 11:20 PM IST: That brings us to the end of our coverage from this encounter between RCB and GT. It was a thoroughly convincing all-round performance from Gujarat at the home ground of RCB and the victory will give them a lot of confidence going forward in the competition. RCB shouldn't be too bothered with this loss as they started the campaign with two wins and still at the top half of the points table. They just need to fine tune their plans, especially at their home ground and everything should fall in place. Mohammed Siraj is the Player of the Match, here is what he had to say: I was a bit emotional as I played here for seven years but when the ball came in hand, it was all different. I am there that's what the celebration is all about, obviously I am a big fan of Ronaldo. I wasn't quite realising my mistakes as I was playing continuous cricket but since I joined GT and worked with Ashu bhai and the remaining guys helped me. He told me to go and enjoy myself which matters the most. He keeps giving me feedback which helps me a lot. My mindset as a bowler is to have belief. You can't panic after conceding a six. I always have a belief in my abilities.

Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans captain): Yeah definitely, we have seen on this ground restricting the other team to 170 we were always in the game. The wicket sometimes plays really good and sometimes there is something in it for the bowlers. Today there was something in it for the fast bowlers. We knew if we didn't give them early wickets, we should chase this down. We have to grab the next opportunity which comes towards you. The kind of wicket it was, we batted professionally and it was a clinical chase. It was about adapting to the conditions.

Jos Buttler [Gujarat Titans]: "I really enjoyed it; the bowlers did a fantastic job, but we should've fielded better, myself included. If we had, we would've been chasing fewer runs. To be honest, I'm pretty embarrassed. The only thing I can think of is trying to throw it up early, like Herschelle Gibbs did. As a team, we didn’t field well, but we bowled well, which meant we ended up chasing more than we wanted. I’m trying to play with a lot of freedom and intent, making sure I give my best. I’m excited to be here. We’ve got a lot of bases covered, with a strong seam bowling unit, spinners, and some dangerous hitters as well."

Rajat Patidar [Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain]: "Not 200, we were targeting around 190, but early wickets dented our progress. The intent was good, but we should've picked up a couple of wickets, which would’ve made the difference in the end. Slightly better from the way our bowlers bowled; they did well, but they had to work hard initially and dragged the game till the 18th over, which is commendable. After losing three wickets, the way Jitesh and Liam batted was amazing to see. We are confident in our batting, the intent is there, but it’s all about execution."

It turned out to be a rather straightforward run chase for the Gujarat Titans as they won by 8 wickets to register their second win of the competition while the Royal Challengers Bengaluru suffered their first defeat of the competition. The target of 170 was never going to be enough for RCB and when they couldn't get early wickets and wickets in the middle overs, it was all done and dusted.

Jos Buttler then played a blinder of a knock and took them over the finish line quite comfortably in the end. Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill took their time initially and showed respect to the new ball bowlers before breaking the shackles. Sudarshan struck a six and four of Hazlewood in the fourth over to give some momentum before Shubman tried to take the attack of Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the other end.

He smashed a six before perishing in an attempt to play another big shot. Out came Jos Buttler in the middle and batted sensibly to start with. Sai Sudarshan continued his great form and went onto score 49 which came off 36 deliveries and shared a 75 runs stand with Buttler.

When Sudarshan was dismissed, the match was very much in GT’s grasp. Out came Sherfane Rutherford at number four and complemented Buttler perfectly. The duo ensured that GT reached the target without any further hiccups. Rutherford remained unbeaten on 30 while Buttler scored a sensational 73 off 39 deliveries.

10:57 PM IST: That's a commanding win for Gujarat Titans and have outplayed RCB in aoo three departments of the game. RCB lose their first game of the tournament and that too in front of their home crowd. They didn't score enough to start with and in the end, it was Buttler magic which made the run chase pretty easy in the end. Just what GT needed after losing their first game.
