I was trying to get Green on strike initially but a couple of strokes came off and I continued with the hitting. We have a lot of all-rounders in our team and it was good to contribute. Once we got to about 160 we knew it was a good score. Tanveer and Green put the pressure on the batters and with three spinners we did really well. "

It was expected to turn off the pitch in the second innings and turn it did. It was expected to be tough for the batters to get going once the ball got older, and tough-going it indeed was. But, 5 wickets falling in the first 6 overs and only 49 runs on the board, it got sealed with a kiss for the Thunder then and there!

Perth Scorchers lost two wickets up front via run outs. In a match like this, with everything to play for, that is not what you look forward to as the side chasing. No one scored more than 22 runs, no partnership was significant enough to pose any kind of threat and no answer came from the side of the batters against spin, when it started to weave its magic!

The body language from Sydney Thunder, led by their energetic and focused skipper, David Warner, was right on cue! That reflected in the desperate fielding efforts of theirs right through the innings. Also, the captaincy from Warner was up to standard!

Tanveer Sangha bowled 4 overs right after the power play and impressed. Chris Green bowled brilliantly and took 200 T20 wickets. Tom Andrews, the hero of the match, managed to pick up a wicket as well! Nathan McAndrew and Mohammad Hasnain played their parts too.

So with this win, the Thunder book a place in the finals. But falling to last in the standings, the Scorchers crash out of the play-off race! The latter is a shocking result and perhaps a signal to the management for change.

17.2 Nathan McAndrew to Mahli Beardman, McAndrew STRIKES! THAT WILL BE THE GAME FOR THE SYDNEY THUNDER! They've won by 61 runs against the Perth Scorchers and this has been an incredible effort from them. Coming to the delivery, it was slightly short and on the pads. Beardman looked to glance that one away off his pads but he was strangled down the leg stump as he got a faint tickle on it and Sam Billings took an easy catch. The Perth Scorchers end up being bowled out for 97 runs in 17.2 overs.
